Job Description:
As a Sous Chef at Jerk At Nite, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of our kitchen. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with menu development, supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and consistency, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Your passion for culinary excellence, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills will be integral in driving our kitchen team to success.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and creating innovative dishes that align with our brand identity and customer preferences.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper cooking techniques, food safety standards, and portion control.
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain high-quality standards and efficient kitchen operations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to manage inventory levels, track food costs, and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
- Assist in scheduling kitchen staff and organizing workstations to optimize productivity.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering open communication and teamwork among the kitchen staff.
- Step in for the Executive Chef in their absence, assuming leadership responsibilities and coordinating kitchen operations accordingly.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance culinary skills and stay updated on industry trends and new cooking techniques.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, flavor profiles, and food presentation.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong understanding of food costs, portion control, and inventory management.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, management, and suppliers.
- Certification from a culinary institute or relevant degree in culinary arts is a plus.
