Job Title: Bartender
Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
Mix and serve drinks and food to patrons, directly or through wait staff. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Open and closes the restaurant
- Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws
- Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
- Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks
- Serve wine, liquor and bottled or draft beer
- Collect payment for drinks served
- Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
- Balance cash receipts, complete paperwork, make payment drop into cash drawer
- Clean bars, work areas, and tables; clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
- Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software.
Other
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early and late shifts, weekends and holidays.
