Bartender
Reports to: General Manager, Restaurant Manager

General Description: Bartenders are responsible for all aspects of the guest experience at the bar, including greetings, menu sales, bar maintenance and development, overall guest satisfaction and happiness, fond farewells and maintain a general command of the food and beverage menu.
You will work to prepare, mix, and serve consistently excellent beverages to guests either directly at the bar or through serving staff; provide impeccable hospitality to each of our guests, working specifically with each individual need to curate the best experience possible.
Key Responsibilities
Service
- Maintains warmth and hospitality in all correspondence with guests
- Complete opening and closing side work checklist for shift daily
- Help guests to make selections from food and beverage menus, suggest courses and pairings, explain any off-menu dishes, answer all food preparation questions
- Take orders from guests, ensuring 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes
- Check identification of all customers who appear under 30 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them
- Communicate with the kitchen to manage timing of courses, any guest feedback, etc.
- Deal with guest complaints by finding a way to say yes; involve the manager on duty as needed
- Process guest payments in timely, accurate manner
- Process financials on shift-by-shift basis, including submitting accurate cash sales
- Accurately report cash and credit card tips and contribute to tip pool as applicable
- Maintain sanitation to DOH standards; Keep work area clean and organized
- Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
- Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
- Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
- Complete other duties as assigned by management
- Communicate all necessary guest information with the team to set everyone up for success (allergy alerts, VIPs, special requests, celebrations, etc.)
Menu Knowledge
- Maintain an understanding of OWS food menu and have the ability to clearly describe our offerings
- Have a grasp of OWS’ beverage program and be able to summarize our philosophy and identify our different offerings
- Understand different types of allergy restrictions and help communicate potential issues to floor and kitchen staff
Station Set Up
- Set up the bar; fill wells with ice, prepare fruit trays, restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices; stock trash cans and towels, etc.
- Set-up garnishes following OWS standards
Brand
- Understand and communicate OWS values and brand philosophy to customers and staff and set the tone for a positive work environment
- Promote the OWS vision while establishing us as an innovator within our industry
- Actively involved in OWS publicity opportunities and community outreach
- Walks the talk with who we are and what we stand for internally and externally

Experience/Education
- Minimum 1+yrs of bartending experience in a restaurant
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in a Hospitality related field or equivalent experience
- TIPS certification preferred
- Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs
- Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and POS systems
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions when working under stress, in fast-paced environments
