The Wydown is an independently owned specialty coffee bar, scratch bakery, and kitchen with two locations in the heart of Washington, DC.
 
Our mission is simple: to delight customers. We're passionate about service and obsessed with good coffee and food and those are the tools we use to carry out our mission. Our staff is known for being friendly and genuinely hospitable. Our baristas, bakers, and cooks are skilled and talented.
 
We execute an innovative, drip coffee and espresso program based on United States Barista Championship criteria. We execute a unique, high-quality scratch bakery baked fresh everyday. We incessantly refine and polish our techniques and push the envelope of quality. In recent years, we have launched a delicious made-to-order breakfast and lunch menu including breakfast sandwiches, toasts, grain bowls and salads.
 
We seek an experienced and talented Executive Chef to lead our team of cooks and bakers to delight customers with some of the best breakfast, lunch, and baked goods in DC!

The Executive Chef will coordinate with the Owners, GMs, Director of Operations and all other team members to execute the mission of The Wydown: to delight customers. This includes all the duties listed below, but equal to that the Chef will be part of a fun, dedicated, hard working leadership team. We constantly support each other and meet weekly to communicate well and coordinate priorities.

 

Create, Produce, and Quality Control

* Developing and maintaining a breakfast, lunch, and bakery menu for the two cafes

* Creating new menu items seasonally and for special events and holidays

* Ensuring quality control across both locations

 

Lead the Team

*Interviewing, hiring, and training the team of cooks and bakers

*Scheduling

*Coaching and Path development

 

Keep the Program Healthy

*Product ordering and vendor relations

*Maintain organized Inventory

*Waste tracking and management

*Maintain healthy COGS

*Maintain healthy labor

The ideal candidate will have:
* A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a high-volume service industry environment
* A minimum of 1-2 years managing teams in a fast paced environment
* Outstanding organizational skills
* Must be committed to our mission and culture
 
Our compensation package is competitive and commensurate with experience. It includes excellent health care insurance and paid vacation time.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($65,000.00)
