The Charter Oak is looking to add a bread baker to our culinary team. This position involves producing a variety of breads, desserts, and brunch pastries including (but not limited to) artisanal sourdough loaves, pretzels, English muffins, croissants, and Danishes. We use flour from local farmers and mill a portion of our grains ourselves. Ideal candidates have some consistent experience with bread but we are willing to train candidates who have a solid pastry foundation and strong motivation to learn. You must be dependable, have excellent time management, and hold yourself to the highest standards.
Essential Functions:
-Provides a quality product that is timely, fresh, and meets Charter Oak quality and standards
-Ensures proper and consistent production of all food products at all times
-Maintains clean and sanitary food preparation and storage areas at all times in accordance with state and local sanitation requirements and codes
-Exemplify leadership qualities that build a cohesive team, motivates the kitchen staff, and helps to achieve the restaurant's goals
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-One year of experience in pastry and/or baking
-Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
-Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral
-Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines
