POSITION SUMMARY: The General Manager directs and oversees all food, beverage and guest experience to provide efficient, friendly and profitable operations. And, oh yeah, runs one of the most iconic spots in Wicker Park.
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF FOH OPERATIONS

Requirements, Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- We’re looking for a creative and energetic, and dare we say FUN leader for our Wicker Park flagship location!
- Maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and sets the standard for professionalism at all times - even in the middle of summer when Big Star hosts 2000 guests per day.
- Oversees organization, efficiency, and policies pertaining to HOSPITALITY
- Promotes cooperative effort, team spirit, positive morale, and the all-encompassing OOH culture for our team.
- Chicago-area market knowledge is a must.
- Works directly with CDC / Culinary Director in order to promote a strong and unified leadership dynamic truly blending FOH and BOH to promote one team.
- Works with the CDC in setting the direction of the business in day-to-day operations as well as developing and executing a plan to drive sales, manage costs, and grow the business
- Ensures the FOH is properly staffed and communicates any staffing issues to People Services
- Handles all FOH staff responsibilities in partnership with People Services (includes: training and development, employee relations, disciplinary action, documentation, terminations, etc.)
- Responsible for conducting ongoing meetings with managers and OOH Executive Team to update them on financials, service, new procedures, and improvements.
- Collaborates with the OOH events team to create, promote and run exciting events, such as dinners, pop-ups, private events, and more
- Fluent in all aspects of the budget, P&L, and forecasting in order to educate all managers on how to meet and exceed all goals set forth by our CEO and Partners
- Resolves any guest issues in a polite, friendly, and timely manner
- Ensures the entire space looks, smells, and feels great
- Has a strong appreciation for One Off Hospitality core values and philosophy
- Adheres to all safety and sanitation policies and procedures
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- 3-5 years minimum previous management experience is required
- Illinois Manager Food Sanitation Certification required
- Illinois Allergen Certification required
- BASSET Certification required
- Manager's Food Handler Certification required
- Ability to manage and accelerate during periods of high volume AND the third week of January.
- Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Hot Schedules, Tock and/or Toast preferred
- You must value music on vinyl, high-quality spirits, and having fun at work
