POSITION SUMMARY: We're looking for an enthusiastic professional who loves to has fun at work, has hospitality running through their veins, has a true understanding of quality and wants to join the leadership team of one of the country’s best restaurants.

Requirements
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and a neat, clean and professional image
  • Promotes cooperative effort, team spirit and good morale among employees
  • Thorough understanding of all FOH hourly roles and duties and ability to jump in and support the team as needed.
  • High-level attention to detail in all aspects of work. It ALL counts!
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all food and beverage items on menu and trains the staff on the same
  • Supervises staff during, before, and after service to ensure quality of service, positive guest experience, and cleanliness
  • Collaborates with the location GM & Chef, marketing, and social media teams on creative ideas for driving guest and employee engagement
  • Prioritizes hospitality including personally greeting guests and checking in on tables during service
  • Performs shift change and/or opening or closing duties, as needed
  • Collaborates with location General Manager & Chef with administrative tasks as needed
  • Resolves guests issues in a polite, friendly manner always making sure we follow up with them when needed (also reporting all escalated situations to the General Manager)
  • Has a strong understanding of One Off Hospitality history, values and philosophy

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • High School Diploma or GED graduate
  • Open availability
  • 1-3 years minimum previous management experience is required
  • Illinois Manager Food Sanitation Certification required
  • Illinois Allergen Certification required
  • BASSET Certification required
  • Manager's Food Handler Certification required
  • Ability to manage and accel during periods of high volume
  • Desire to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Hot Schedules, Tock and/or Toast preferred
  • A strong bar background a plus, especially experience with ordering, menu development, creativity, and inventory management
  • A deep appreciation and love of hospitality

Part of One Off Hospitality Group

avec, a wine bar from the award-winning team behind Blackbird restaurant, opened in October 2003. A menu crafted of rustic food, including handcrafted charcuterie, inspired by the wine-growing regions of Southern France, Italy, Portugal and the coast of Spain. In addition to cuisine that reflects the aromas, flavors and colors of the Mediterranean, the wine bar features a moderately priced wine list that focuses on boutique vineyards throughout southwestern Europe.

The James Beard Award-winning design, by Thomas Schlesser, incorporates the elements of wine-making into the architecture of the 1,500-square-foot bar and dining area. Designed in a Danish Modern style, the room finds ornamentation in structure and materials. The honey-colored room is wrapped in cedar and anchored by a light hickory floor and outfitted with red oak seating. The space holds five communal tables, each seating eight guests, encouraging a convivial atmosphere.
