We were just named to the 2022 Michelin list, mentioned in Forbes magazine, named "Best Restaurant in Orlando" by the readers of Orlando Magazine in the Dining Awards for 2022 and recipient of 3 Orlando Sentinel Foodies for 2022....not too shabby for the little restaurant that would! Tucked away in the Colonialtown South neighborhood, 337 N Shine Ave is located in the heart of The City Beautiful. Founded in 2012 as Maxine’s on Shine, we are celebrating our 11th year in business as an authentic neighborhood restaurant featuring a sexy, comfortable, and delicious vibe. We need to add another member to the culinary team. This position is a fulltime, approximately 35-45 hours weekly from Wednesday thru Sunday. The culinary management team is dedicated to our success, delicious, inspirational food for the guest, and a solid work environment. The small, yet diverse menu is created almost entirely from scratch. We call it “American Neighborhood Cuisine”. Think of going to a friend’s house for dinner…they might have steak…fish…pasta…salad…light bites…dessert…but, probably not a lot of different choices in each area. The emphasis would be on making each one right. Don’t forget brunch...where we had a hunch, the good people of Orlando would like to munch on great food, drinks, and times too. Best Brunch in Orlando…we’ve won a few. That’s the idea behind our food…award winning, comfortable, delicious, and inspiring for those that put their professional efforts into it… a true “win-win” for all.
HERE IS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Experience with saute, grill, and pantry is required for full-time. Egg skills are a bonus and provide a better opportunity for brunch work. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE IN ALL AREAS, STILL APPLY AS WE DO HAVE NEED FOR PART-TIME, AND WITH CROSS-TRAINING, FULL-TIME HOURS CAN BE ACHIEVED.
Job Duties:
• Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
• Follow recipes and presentation specifications
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
• Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
• Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
• Restock items as needed throughout the shift
• Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
While no one position is any more important than the next in working together; following recipes and the lead of our management team is required. Great attitude, timeliness, adhering to procedures, daily cleaning and organizing are components of our winning approach.
WE ARE NOT asking you to be overtasked on a single shift and cover multiple stations…no good for you, quality of food, and our guest's experience. Saute, grill/fry, and pantry stations are 1 person stations each, except for an additional pantry/dessert person on busier shifts. All line positions are utilized during brunch and dinner. Production during the day/night, and expo are additional roles that will/may be assigned.
Culinary education is not required, but a high school degree or GED is preferred.
We are a very open-minded establishment in a progressive, loving community within the heart of The City Beautiful. Our home provides an environment that generates a positive, safe, respectful, and professional vibe for all. In the time we share together, we focus on the positive, acknowledge the negative, address, and get back to the positive experience for all.
Dinner service is provided Wednesday thru Saturday, seating from 5pm till 9pm. Rejuicination Brunch is offered Friday thru Sunday from 10am till 3pm. All dinner reservations are 2 hours as we efficiently offer a great dining experience. We are often finished by 11pm...being respectful of our neighborhood, and the hours we work. Production hours begin as early as 7:30am Wednesday thru Sunday.
Maxine’s is closed Monday and Tuesday…you need days off too, just like everyone else. Keeping with a family vibe, we are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as two times a year for a break for everyone. Family meal is offered nightly, and staff discounts are provided on nights off.
