Job Details

Pistores Pizza and Pastry is a new restaurant in River North.  We are a mom and pop establishment that is not a part of a larger restaurant group.  As we grow, we are looking to bring new team members into the Pistores Family.  Listed below are the requirements and job responsibilties of our servers:

Must:

  • Must speak fluent English
  • Be Punctual
  • Be Organized
  • Be Available Wednesday through Sunday, both AM and PM.  (Shifts vary)
  • Have server experience (Please provide references)
  • Have knowledge of wines, and learn our offerings
  • ServSafe certificate, or be able to acquire within 30 days of hire
Responsibilties include:

  • Friendly and welcoming service to our guests
  • Guiding guests through all phases of their experience at our venue
  • Accurate order taking and communication with the kitchen
  • Utilizing our POS system (We use Toast)
  • Folding napkins, polishing glassware/silverware
  • Light bussing of tables during slower periods
  • Running food during slower periods
  • Folding to go boxes for Pizza and Pastry
  • Making coffee and using the espresso machine (includes steaming/foaming of milk for specialty beverages. We can teach you, but you must be willing to learn
  • Boxing up pastries for to go customers
  • Assisting with the management of any to go and take out orders through Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.
  • Perform opening and closing duties (cleaning, organizing, etc.)
  • Being a team player
Personal Qualities That We are Looking For
  • Excellent Personal Hygiene (Tattoos and Piercings are fine, as long as they are inoffensive.)
  • Positive Attitude
  • Detail Oriented
  • Self Motivated and doesnt need to be told when tasks need to be completed.
  • Follows instructions but asks questions when clarification is needed.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($11.00) plus tips

The name “Pistores” holds great significance to Andrea and Joel. In Medieval Times, the Latin word “Pistor” was given to the person who would make and bake dough for the town. There was a clear distinction made between a “Fornarii'', who would solely bake bread, and “Pistores”, who were the sole makers and bakers of both dough and sweet dough in 1200s Paris. With time and creativity, the profession grew and the term “Pistor” was replaced with “Patissier'' to designate a pastry chef, and “Boulangerie” to describe a bread maker.

In honor of a long lost culinary art, Andrea and Joel chose the name “Pistores” to reignite the craft and showcase Joel’s work as a true modern day Pistor. In highlighting his expertise as both a pastry chef and Boulangerie, Pistores Pizza & Pastry will celebrate and reimagine the techniques of a tradition as old as time. By combining their expertise and love of hospitality with a great respect for tradition, Andrea and Joel intend to tell a culinary story all their own.
