Position Summary:
The Maitre’ D is responsible to ensure that all guests’ expectations are consistently met by exceeding The Great Jones Standard. This is a position that will be responsible for all aspects of reservations and front desk operations as well as assisting in the Retail shop. The Reservations manager will insure that the guest has a memorable experience from the minute we answer the phone, to taking a proper reservation, greeting the guest at the front door, showing them to the table and making sure we send them off with a pleasant and hospitable salutation. The Reservations manager must be present at the front desk to anticipate guest’s needs and be available to assist and instruct hosts. This positon will be responsible, with assistance from the Assistant General Manager, for hiring, training and scheduling reservation and host staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Oversee all aspects of the front desk and the reservations department · Oversee the retail shop and ensure all items are stocked and guest-faced · Work with management to inform all employees of new and important retail items · Provide special attention to key GJD VIPs and distinguished guests of Ownership and upper management. · Oversee all aspects of the reservations systems. To include, all outlets and the distillery tour reservations · Prepare and oversee the reservation confirmation system, to include fact checking all guest and insuring this data Is in the reservation platform
· Foster ongoing relationships with concierges and neighboring hotels, along with Creating a schedule for all managers to visit
Concierge and local hotels
· Scheduling all reservationist and host staff
· Maintain menu’s to insure their cleanliness and accuracy. Insure smooth execution when making changes to the menu
· Participate in shift meeting by going over the floor plan, VIPs and special requests.
· Maintain a consistent presence at the front desk.
· Coaching floor staff with the guidance of the general manager and the Assistant General manager
· Participate in annual staff reviews
· Insure that all VIP guests’ expectations are being communicated to all and followed thru.
· Attend weekly food and beverage meetings
· Maintain and update Toast POS as needed.
· Maintain an ongoing relationship with concierges and neighboring hotels
· Continuous staff training to insure that all staff maintain The Great Jones standards.
Key Competencies:
· 2+ years management experience in a New York City Fine Ding/high volume restaurant
· The ability to make decisions at a moment’s notice
· Experience in managing a large staff
· A strong passion for food and beverage with an emphasis on hospitality driven service
· Strong written and oral communications skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Must have a high level of flexibility, including a willingness to work weekends, holidays and
additional hours when necessary
