Newport Coffee House
Newport Coffee House is a small team of individuals that share a passion for coffee roasting and baking. We have two locations, one in Bannockburn where we do all the roasting, and one in Evanston where we bake and also serve a bistro style menu. As a coffee roaster, we are very proud to say that we are USDA certified organic. Please see our website for more information. Pastry Chef / Baker
Baked goods have always been an important part of what we offer. The coffee experience for our customers is greatly enhanced by the pastries and other foods we offer for them to pair with their drink. Our pastry line is developing and we are a small baking team looking to grow. For the right candidate, being part of our team is a great opportunity to learn, develop and bring creativity to our future offering. We have a passion for excellence and are constantly trying to improve. Our current offering includes croissants, scones, muffins, quiches, our own Swedish Knot, and more! We are also branching out into bread baking.
Being a small team also brings flexibility, in hours per week and also in night vs. day shifts. We see our team as a family where we try to work it out together.
Job requirements
- Minimum 1-3 years experience working as a Baker or Pastry Chef
- Can ensure efficiency and consistent results in items baked
- Ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen
- Able to communicate and collaborate with co-workers in a respectful, helpful and efficient manner
- Ability to embrace and be active member in change needed on our development journey
