Job Details

Chef Driven Group is hiring a Front of House manager to join our growing team at Nice Matin, an established neighborhood French bistro on the UWS. 

The FOH manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing our evening service. The ideal candidate is experienced in fine dining skills and enjoys interacting with clients, ensures staff is delivery high-quality service and maintaining standards, and finding solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys a bustling environment, is a hands-on team player, and is a leader under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the daily operations while maintaining a consistent management presence during service.
  • Assists GM in service training across all FOH teams 
  • Proactively supervising the door team to ensure smooth cover flow
  • Facilitate communications between FOH and BOH team
  • Proactive in controlling labor costs based on business flows
  • Effective at resolving service issues, handling customer complaints, and problem solving
  • Building relationships with our regular clientele and building new relationships
  • Maintain a high level of hospitality and professionalism with each manager, team member, and guest

Qualifications:

  • Appetite for hospitality and creating memorable experiences for our guests
  • Management experience in a fine dining and/or upscale casual restaurant a must
  • The ability to stay calm and positive under pressure
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English with strong communication skills
  • Team oriented with a strong sense of punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, ability to mentally prioritize and stay organized in a high volume atmosphere
  • Wine Knowledge and experience with wine service a plus
  • Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver items up to 30 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending and standing)

  • We have a high management retentation rate and believe in work/life balance. Management schedule is no more than 45-50 hours per week and includes two consecutive days off. 
  • Salary based on 5 shifts per week. Management receives annual holiday bonus and additional shift pay

With Nice Matin, Tour De France NYC brings their expertise in Niçoise cuisine to the US. Executive Chef / Partner Andy D’Amico has been charming New York diners with his cuisine for many years and interprets the cuisine with a contemporary New York flair.  

Nice Matin found D’Amico partnering with Simon Oren (Marseille, Sushi Samba, L'Express, etc.) and together they traveled to Nice, France, while researching their project. D’Amico created an inventive menu full of items inspired by his trip – some classic in their presentation, whilst others with his own unique interpretation. Opened in 2003, critics applauded his choices, and he received “2 Stars” from The New York Times and Crain’s New York, and “2 1/2 Stars” from The Daily News and New York Post. That same year, D’Amico was named “Best Chef” by New York Magazine food editor Gillian Duffy.  

Most recently, Nice Matin has received accolades for the extensive wine list, curated by wine director Aviram Turgeman. Most notably, Nice Matin has received the Grand Award for wine-list excellence from Wine Spectator for the past three consecutive years.
