Job Title: Sous Chef
Tessa Restaurant, a vibrant and upscale Mediterranean-inspired eatery located in the heart of New York City, is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef at Tessa, you will work closely with our Executive Chef and kitchen staff to ensure the highest level of food quality, taste, and presentation is delivered to our guests.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper food safety and sanitation practices.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and dishes, and ensure consistency across all dishes.
Manage inventory and food ordering to ensure efficient operations and cost control.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
1+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in upscale restaurant environment.
Strong culinary skills, including a deep understanding of Mediterranean cuisine and flavors.
Proven ability to manage and lead a team of kitchen staff.
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
