La Grande Boucherie is seeking a hospitable, warm, and high-spirited Sommelier who has the fine-dining experience and thrives in a fast-paced environment!
The Sommelier is responsible for delivering consistently excellent wine service, working with the service team in delivering consistently high-quality hospitality service and successful wine program. Sommelier will instill strong product knowledge and excellent training and development to the service team.
Service & Operations:
- Supporting the Beverage Manager to ensure all The Group wine program is run successfully both operationally and financially.
- Focusing on wine service in service, set up and break down, daily and weekly procedures.
- Help guests to make selection from wine menu, suggest and pair wine with food.
- Ensure the wine leaving the wine cellar is always entered into the sales system, before the wine is taken out for service.
- Inspect the wine cellar to ensure all furniture and equipment is in good condition, report any deficiencies to the management.
- Check daily the Sommelier station, and ensure it is in clean and organized condition, wine glassware properly polished.
- Assist servers by delivering drinks to the guests whenever needed and not occupied with selling/serving wine at the table.
- To organize and hold Wine tasting training for the staff as directed by Management.
- Working with the Beverage Manager to execute, maintain and improve the wine program.
- Embody and uphold the The Group values.
- Demonstrate and maintain excellent product knowledge.
Essential Functions:
- Able to lift 30+ pounds
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
- Must have basic math skills
- Maintain a friendly, helpful, and positive attitude at all times
- Polished personal presentation; Grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
- Communicates information effectively and efficiently
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions under pressure, maintains professionalism when working under stress
- Attends mandatory staff meetings
- Adherence to company, state, and county sanitation standards
- Strict adherence to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
- Unpack, stock, & organize all items in and around the restaurant to maintain the highest level of cleanliness possible
- Perform all other related and compatible duties as assigned by the Management Team
- Adhere to all HR policies and procedures
