Balancing inspiration from the modern built forms of Singapore with traditional patterns to create a restaurant space that is imbued with culture. The elegant space includes 30ft ceilings, 2 beautiful bars, chefs table, and an expansive patio.

Finding inspiration from one of the most eclectic culinary scenes in the world, chef Pepe Moncayo brings with him ten years of cooking and living in Singapore to the forthcoming Jiwa Singapura. It is in Singapore where Moncayo met his wife, had his children, and deepened his love for cooking and the art of hospitality. He calls it his “home, forever.”

The Tysons Galleria restaurant will capture the best of Singapore’s street-food culture and high-end dining, giving the larger D.C.-metro area a taste of some of the Asian city-state’s boldest, nuanced flavors. Expect to see the classics like Hainanese chicken rice, laksa and chili crab.

The Role

• As the Host you are responsible for curating the guest experience per standards by the restaurant and management. Your duties include but are not limited to greeting guests with enthusiasm and welcoming them into the restaurant. You must be fully knowledgeable about all aspects of the restaurant in terms of seating times, offerings, location, and be able to multitask. The Host is the first and last point of contact of the guests and is responsible for letting management know if there are any issues that arise.

  Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Guest satisfaction
  • Greet Guests within 30 seconds of arrival at the host stand
  • Smile, connect, and provide a genuine greeting
  • And the phone within 3 rings
  • Escort the guests to their assigned table and offer assistance with seating. Pull out chairs if needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand
  • Escort guests to alternate destinations if asked. (restrooms, PDR, etc)
  • Manage reservations and walk-in business effectively as to maximize guest count in the restaurant
  • Keep an accurate count of guests that are in house and have arrived, will be arriving, have canceled, no show, and walk-ins.
  • Frequently check back with guests who are waiting in the bar area to be seated. Make it evident to guests that they have not been forgotten and that tables are being prepared for them. 
  • Offer a glass of wine or sparkling to guests that have been waiting in excess of 20+ minutes
  • Always thank a guest who is leaving the restaurant and open the doors if there are spare hands. Use their names if known to elevate the guest experience.
  • Perform all side-duties assigned by management
  • Effectively communicate the needs of the guests to the kitchen and management (dietary restrictions, allergies, special requests, etc)
  • Operate as a team member, helping others and requesting for help as needed. 
  • Wipe down doors and make sure the entry way is clean and safe for guests to walk on.
  • Obtain guests name if possible to inform the server which seat and who the person is in the party.
