About the Opportunity
Casa Teresa is a new Spainsh Restaurant by Chef Ruben Garcia, utilizing open-fire cooking and seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. Casa Teresa is located inside DC's newest culinary destination, The Square, a collective of a dynamic lineup of talented cooks and craftspeople brought together by Unfold Hospitality. We’re longtime food industry veterans and some of the creative minds formerly behind ThinkFoodGroup, Union Market, and La Cosecha.
We’re looking for a General Manager (GM) to lead managers and staff in restaurant operations. As the GM, your responsibilities are focused on business and people management. You work in partnership with the Chef to ensure the success of the restaurant. You report to the Director ot Operations.
Responsibilities
Your work includes:
- Overseeing operations by supervising all employees, ensuring policies and protocols are followed, and standards maintained.
- Staffing and on-boarding employees, organizing training, and facilitating continuous professional development.
- Partnering with the Chef to ensure cohesiveness between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
- Overseeing the floor during service, ensuring teams are able to fulfill their duties, and delegating tasks as needed.
- Ensuring a welcoming and courteous service environment for guests and staff through regular interactions and intervention when needed to remediate issues.
- Setting and achieving goals for sales, service, and labor in collaboration with managers and evaluating performance with them.
- Promoting a supportive and productive work environment where learning and advancement are encouraged and decency expected.
- Ensuring compliance in regards to health and safety, human resources, and business licenses and certificates.
Qualifications
You are:
- Experienced in managing a full-service restaurant or evidence the qualities needed, such as industry knowledge, emotional intelligence, and business acumen.
- Team-oriented and proactive with the ability to efficiently and effectively identify and prioritize needs, problem-solve, delegate, and motivate colleagues.
- Strong Beverage Knowledge Preferred
- Skilled in written and verbal communication in English, additional languages welcome.
- Able to lead and serve with humility, confidence, and empathy.
- Committed to acting with integrity and promoting DEI values.
- Certified as a food safety manager or willing to obtain ServSafe credentials.
- Able to work in an active and partly sedentary role.
- Comfortable using office and industry technology and applications.
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Passionate about F&B and hospitality.
