POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Head Chef to oversee the daily operations of OBC at Sloan’s Lake kitchen. As Head Chef, you will curate the menu and lead seasonal offerings, oversee daily operations- kitchen staff/scheduling, while ensuring the highest quality of service and cuisine to our guests. This position includes monitoring inventory, ordering appropriately, food preparation & safety. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have proven culinary and management experience and be able to demonstrate successful communication, effective leadership, and creativity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Team Development/Management
- Ensures proper performance management of co-workers
- Accountable to be present and available during the restaurant hours, including nights, weekends and special events
- Creates and supports a cohesive team through thoughtful selection and hiring processes, consistent coaching and training, and engaging in effective communication
- Work with General Manager to help educate all co-workers on available menu items
- Lead training program for new back of house employees
- Maintain a safe and ethical working environment
- Welcomes feedback and constructive criticism
- Cultivates a collaborative environment within the kitchen team
- Creates and cultivates an inclusive environment for all guests, co-workers, and the community
Leadership Engagement
- Model the OBC culture and lives the values of OBC, “Always better."
- Work closely with Brewer and General Manager on coordination of beer releases & menu pairings
- Support charitable outreach commitment
- Foster relationships with community partners, neighbors and vendors
- Provide and engage in strategic planning as related to menu releases, events, marketing innovative ideas
- Continuously looking for ways to improve processes, enhance business operations, profitability, guest experiences and co-worker engagement
Enhanced Guest Experience
- Exceed guest expectations of Odell Brewing to create an emotional bond that reinforces the brand position and brand strategy
- Ensure responsible food preparation and execution
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness & maintenance of the kitchen
- Maintain a welcoming, exciting, educational and fun visitor experience
- Provide event logistics: review opportunities and menu creation
- Work with the General Manager to investigate and resolve complaints/ guest feedback concerning food quality
- Participates in local food festivals
Product and Menu Development
- Foster relationships with community partners, neighbors and vendors
- Oversee menu development and creativity
- Responsible for sourcing ingredients that align with our quality standards
- Commitment to hosting quarterly PD meetings & participating in monthly team meetings with Leadership
- Embraces a seasonal menu
Daily Operations
- Oversee menu development and creativity

- Implements and maintains programs targeted at customer loyalty
- Monitors and completes administrative work to include reconciliation, invoicing, and other accounting-type duties
- Maintains the existence of accurate pricing and inventory
- Encourages consistent teamwork effort
- Ensure food quality; manage facility kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and all products received
- Approve BOH invoices and PO's
- Maintain safe, healthy and sustainable restaurant environment: establish, follow and enforce sanitation standards and procedures, comply with health and legal regulations and observe kitchen safety and sustainability practices
- Maintain management of the kitchen to ensure that all tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently

- Analyze trends and variances on food to forecast inventory needs and meet sales goals
- Manage daily reconciliation
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Significant experience as a chef in a pizza kitchen
- Proven managerial experience
- ServSafe Manager Certified
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work long hours on your feet
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and move up to 160 lbs
- Ability to work in a hot, wet, and loud environment
- Ability to crouch, bend, lift, climb stairs, and reach.
- Ability to remain focused and level-headed under demanding situations
COMPENSATION
Wage information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is Odell’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, or other position-related reasons.
Salary Range:
$60,000 – $70,000/yr depending on experience
