Job Details
Hiring for a skilled line chef to work our dinner service 4-5 nights per week.

POSITION TITLE: PM Line Cook

WAGE: 18.87/HR + 1 weighted tips from whole house tip pool (30% BOH / 70% FOH)

WORK HOURS: 25-35 hours per week

What we re looking for

Experience in a fast-paced kitchen with an ability to effectively communicate and execute plating in a timely manner. A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with FoH & BoH staff. Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised. Able to work on multiple tickets at once and stay organized. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and fulfill orders in a timely manner.

 

What s expected of you

A Line Cook prepares food using recipes and menu items created by the Executive Chef/ Chef de Cuisine and helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations. Preparing food includes cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, and appetizers. Plating prepared foods based on Chef s guidance. Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time. Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts. Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.

  1. 50% coverage for health insurance begins after your first 60 days for employees average 30+ hours per week.

  2. Accrued one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours, which may be carried over year to year, up to that maximum.

  • This will increase to include alcoholic beverages (except Bottled Wine) after the first year.

Requirements:

  1. At least 21 years of age

  2. Working knowledge of the food and beverage industry, involving at least two years direct industry experience.

  3. Operational knowledge of Toast (for punching in and out)

  4. Knowledge of all required local health and safety requirements.

  5. Be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with those around you

  6. The stamina to work 30 to 40 hours per week 100% on-site environment

  7. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)

  8. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of your regular schedule

  9. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift as much as 50 pounds


Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($18.47) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $190

Chef-Owner, Scott Schaden, has a personal perspective on why he felt compelled to open Terra Restaurant. “Coming up in the culinary world I was always bothered - in the back of my mind - that I was cooking someone else's culture, defining someone else's place of origin, and paying exorbitant prices to have products shipped across the ocean from someone else's backyard. I want to create a restaurant where we cook our culture, highlighting products from our backyard. A place where we find ourselves, our community, our Terra.”
