We are seeking an experienced, motivated individual to join our restaurant as a Maitre'd. As a lead member of our front-of-house service team, you greet customers, make and confirm reservations, and manage waitstaff to ensure the highest possible standards of service. You are responsible for both the logistic details, including reservations and arrangements for large parties, as well as setting the overall ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant space. Our ideal candidate has considerable prior experience in high-end foodservice environments, an impeccable demeanor, customer service skills par excellence, and logistical and organizational acumen.
Le Jardinier New York is a modern vegetable-driven restaurant. Le Jardinier is focused on modern cuisine utilizing the highest quality vegetables, seasonal ingredients, and fresh herbs. The French word for “gardener,” Le Jardinier’s cuisine and setting evoke a modern greenhouse in the heart of the city. Le Jardinier features approachable yet refined vegetable-driven dishes, rooted in classic French technique. Chef Alain Verzeroli has created a menu where plants play a prominent role: local, seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, and greens are complemented by wild and sustainable fish, meat and poultry. The wine list features over 350 references, and has an international focus drawing heavily on the French regions of Champagne, Burgundy, and Bordeaux.
Position Responsibilities
- Make, adjust, and cancel customer reservations
- Greet customers and guide them to their tables
- Answer customer questions regarding food, drinks, and specials
- Resolve customer complaints or disputes
- Manage waitstaff to ensure efficient and excellent service throughout a given seating
Qualifications
- At least 2 years experience in fine dining, fast-paced restaurant environment
- Adaptive organizational skills and the ability to change plans to meet new circumstances
- Excellent communication
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to tactfully deliver unfavorable news to guests, and tactfully provide recovery
