Sushi Hall, a new, upscale/casual neighborhood sushi restaurant that has recently opened in the heart of Lincoln Park is looking to hire multiple cooks to work the sushi line.

Our restaurant has taken off quickly so we are actively actively interviewing for this role and are looking to hire a qualified candidates IMMEDIATELY.

Although we are a sushi restaurant, this role does not require specific sushi experience. A talented cook with strong knife skills, proper fish handling knowledge, and ability to manage multiple tickets at once will do well. We have a very experienced team of talented chefs that can train anyone with these skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various sushi rolls and other Asian dishes

• Select fresh fruits and vegetables to make high-quality dishes (like avocado, mango and carrots)

• Add additional flavors to sushi rolls with ginger, rice vinegar, wasabi and soy sauce, when appropriate

• Manage food prep activities, like boiling rice

• Coordinate with our wait staff to ensure proper cooking, considering special requests and food allergies

• Monitor food stock and coordinate orders with the kitchen lead

• Maintain hygiene principles in all cooking areas and clean your space at the end of the shift

Requirements and skills

• At least one year of experience working the line in a high-volume restaurant 

• Knowledge of fish/seafood and applicable handling/cleanliness standards

• Ability to work both fast and accurately

• Team spirit
  
  
• Willingness to train and learn new skills

• Availability to work during business hours, including weekends and evenings

• Flexibility to take on various shifts

• Serve Safe certified or equivalent certification

• Certification from a culinary school is a plus
