We are currently looking for an accomplished Controller for our growing restaurant client located in Chicago with new concepts/locations on the way!

 

General Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains prompt routine preparation and reporting of retail productivity measures
• Assists with and oversees the monthly close process, providing the bridge between unit management and corporate HQ
• Monitors and improves local controls and accounting procedures where weaknesses are identified at unit level
• Establishes routines for weekly operating and profitability reports, focusing on provision of accuracy and relevant, prompt information for management
• Provides prompt analysis of month end results for the operational team, including unit management
• Prepares detailed and summary forecasts as required
• Leads the preparation of detailed and rolled up annual budgets

 

Qualifications:

• Prior controller experience
• CPA preferred; strong technical accounting background
• Very strong financial reporting and cash flow management (both treasury and 13 week rolling forecast)
• Create a repeatable monthly closing process utilizing our existing PeachTree accounting software
• Comfortable managing several direct reports (including a financial analyst, staff accountant, and A/P clerk)
• Ability to manage an audit process
• Self-starter, ambitious, works well in a dynamic, growing and fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Multi-location restaurant/retail industry experience r
• Private equity experience
• Add-on acquisition experience
• Experience identifying profit-enhancing ideas and collaboratively assisting in execution of such ideas (e.g., store-based labor costs should be a meaningful profit-enhancing area.
• Prior experience upgrading accounting software package to a more sophisticated system (ie, Quickbooks to Great Plains)
