About Baker's Daughter:
Baker’s Daughter is a boutique café from 101 Hospitality, the team behind Gravitas and Michele’s. With two locations in Washington, DC, the all-day cafe offers breakfast, coffee, baked goods and, prepared foods.
Chef Matt Baker harnesses the seasonal bounties of the Chesapeake region for a menu of composed carryout meals, a la carte to-go dishes, house-made and locally-baked breads and pastries, and at select locations bottled cocktails, beers, wine and select spirits.
About The Role:
As Cafe Manager of Baker’s Daughter inside the Eaton Hotel in Washington, DC you will be responsible for making sure the operational needs of the cafe are met as well as providing leadership and guidance for the cafe team. This position will take a hands-on approach to daily operations and implementation of standard operating procedures in partnership with the Baker's Daughter Regional Manager and the rest of the 101 Hospitality management team, as well as working administratively on holiday and other promotions, onboarding and training, and cost control.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Assist Regional manager in hiring and onboarding new employees
- Oversee training for all new hires and for employees moving into Shift Supervisor roles
- Lead daily operations of the restaurant including pre-shift prep
- Train and administer oversight of cash handling
- Lead the team in keeping the cafe clean including maintaining regular cleaning schedules
- Cultivate positive guest experiences
- Develop and maintain relationships with regular guests
- Ensure food safety processes and standards are being implemented and upheld
- Train and administer oversight of cash handling
- Work with team to promote sales growth
Administrative
- Monitor operating costs including labor, paper goods, and supporting BOH teams with food costs
- Manage regular inventory and product rotation
- Manage ordering for the location you lead and ensure that inventory is properly managed and waste is kept low
- Oversee non-alcoholic beverage program, including ordering and equipment maintenance
- Maintain clear communication with other departments
- Lead communication with individual unit requisition forms from commissary kitchen
- Maintenance of online ordering platforms, including keeping all menus up-to-date
- Manage promotions and holiday packages: promotional materials
- Attend department head meetings
- Assist with cross-promotional events with other 101 Hospitality units
- Supporting the rest of the 101 Hospitality team as needed
- Additional tasks or duties as needed by restaurant demands
