Position: Bakery Team Member
The Farmhouse Coffee & Espresso Bar is looking for Bakers to join our team! This is an opportunity to be a part of a unique business bringing the highest quality Coffee roasted on premesis and exceptional hand-crafted artisanal pastry and baked goods, serving Downingtown, Pa since 2017. Our classic treats are baked fresh daily at our in-house bakery with a focus on product which is unique and of the highest quality. We are looking for bakery staff who have a passion and love for pastry and baking, excellent work ethic and attention to detail. Our Bakers work as part of our team in a friendly, fast paced work environment focused on quality product and top-notch customer experience.
Position Summary: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for prep and production of various bakery items at required par levels according to Farmhouse guidelines
- Consistent crafting of all baked goods diligently following all proprietary Farmhouse standardized recipes
- Ability to multi-task while paying special attention to detail
- Maintain proper back-stock is in good order
- Takes initiative in product freshness and bakery efficiency
- Responsible for merchandising bakery display case to Farmhouse standards for image and branding
- Must have the ability to actively sell product and explain ingredients to customers including possible allergens
- Models suggestive selling techniques for bakery orders; takes phone orders promptly and courteously
- Maintain all organized kitchen systems in place per Farmhouse Management for storage, refrigeration, inventory, etc
- Assist in tracking inventory for all baking materials
- Follows daily/weekly kitchen cleaning schedule and standards for sanitization of all equipment, tools, tables, etc.
- Maintains proper safety, health and sanitation standards for self, bakery and entire kitchen environment at all times
- Receive orders from all supply vendors for accuracy/quality
- Communicate with management any issues with equipment
- Immediately reports safety hazards to Management
- Assist other departments when necessary
- Be a positive team player and work well with others
Requirements for successful applicants:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional baking experience; culinary degree, bakery restaurant, hotel experience a plus
- Or currently enrolled in a pastry/culinary program/recent graduate
- Ability to take direction, learn new tasks quickly and multi-task while paying special attention to detail
- Must have knowledge of various baking and pastry techniques
- Must possess strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of detail and sense of urgency
- A passion for people, hospitality and providing exceptional baked goods to customers consistently
- Must be available to work day-time hours Thursday- Sunday; TBD.
- Arrive to work on time, appropriately groomed and dressed
- Effective time management skills
- Pa Food Service Certification (Serve Safe) desired
- Excellent communication skills
- Work requires fine hand use, physical motion including bending, reaching and standing/walking
- Must be bale to lift 50lbs
