The Salt Line is coming to Bethesda! Building on the success of The Salt Line (DC), Longshot Hospitality is thrilled to have opened its second The Salt Line in October 2021 in the bustling and up and coming Ballston neighborhood and now has it's third location anticipated to open in Bethesda in May 2023. We're looking for passionate Sous Chef candidates to join The Salt Line culinary team! 

Ideal Sous Chef candidates will have an established track record of succesful kitchen leadership and management, strong culinary foundation with solid seafood experience, and a genuine passion for hospitality and commitment to guest experience and satisfaction. The position will be expected to support the executive chef in daily restaurant operations and kitchen team management. The culinary team will be tasked with maintaining the signature brand components of The Salt Line concept while also bringing a unique and creative element to the menu in order to firmly establish the restaurant in its own right in a dynamic and attractive way within the competitive Bethesda dining scene. 

Little bit about us: The original The Salt Line, located across the street from Nats park in the Navy Yard neighborhood, has firmly established itself as one of the best, busiest and most beloved restaurants in Washington DC. Both neighborhood go-to spot and acclaimed dining destination, TSL has received numerous accolades since opening in fall of 2017, including a coveted three stars from the Washington Post's Tom Sietsema. the 2019 Rammy for Chef of the Year to Kyle Bailey, and the 2020 Rammy for Favorite Gathering Place.

The Salt Line's menu draws inspiration from "New England meets the Chesapeake". Chef Kyle and team deliver New England classics while additionally putting their culinary talents and skills on display with creative offerings such as seafood charcuterie, crudos, and chef driven seafood entrees. The program focuses on locality and sustainability and prides itself on offering the best seafood available. We are the founding members of Dock-To-Dish in Washington, which focuses on taking the middle man out of the seafood supply chain much like the Farm-To-Table concept. Due to this, you can expect to handle all manner of seafood in a technique-driven, unpretentious kitchen environment. You will also work with our team executing whole animal butchery, homemade pastas and breads, real scratch cooking, and preservation methods.

The second The Salt Line opened in October 2021 to immediate accolades and success in the Ballston neighborhood of Northern Va. The Bethesda location will be the third The Salt Line, with plans to slowly but surely continue to expand the concept.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant culinary management experience
  • Professional, friendly, punctual, reliable, drama free
  • Pride in your work and commitment to quality and attention to detail
  • Genuine drive to provide an excellent guest experience
  • Team oriented collaborative mindset and positive can do attitude
  • Ability to work well with FOH management and staff as well as BOH 
  • Open availability - weekends a must.
