Job Details

Bronze is an innovative hospitality experience serving a globalized menu representative of the travels of Alonzo Bronze, who traded spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques on behalf of Africa and its diasporic colonies. Bronze is currently recruiting a reliable and efficient line cook to run a specific kitchen station and assist the chef de cuisine in preparing food for our guests, while committing to the specifications and quality of dish execution.


Bronze is an exciting new venture joining H st NE. With the innovative minds behind D.C. staples such as Maketto, Spoken English, Brothers and Sisters, and other restaurants, Bronze is an opportunity to join a creative team on a new and exciting journey.


Responsibilities

Specific duties are listed, but not limited to:

  • Planning and directing food preparation, managing kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared properly
  • Come up with on the spot solutions for problems that may occur in the kitchen and commissary
  • Responsible for service expediting, arranging tickets and ordering food preparation so that customers receive food in the order it should be sent out  
  • Responsible for quality control, ensuring that food that leaves the kitchen is of the highest quality in both design and taste-wise
  • Knowledge of all food and menu items
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Knowledge of and adhere to Bronze, LLC. company procedures and policies.


Requirements and Experience:


  • Maintains a Certified Food Protection Manager license issued by Department of Health
  • 2+ years related experience in restaurant kitchen operations with a proven track record of leading a professional, efficient, high quality, service-oriented operation
  • Ability to lift 35lbs
  • Must be familiar with health requirements, OSHA regulations and Department of Labor regulations as they pertain to all kitchen and restaurant employees
  • Ability to work on flexible shifts including weekends and holidays on rotation basis.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($18.00)

Bronze is a restaurant inspired by Afrofuturism that melds fantasy and gastronomy with the culture of the African Diaspora. It tells the 700-year-old story of Alonzo Bronze, who traveled freely around the globe, searching for new cultures to learn from and share with. Eventually, the people of Bronze with their mythic cranes settled on a lush and bountiful island in the modern-day Caribbean. Slate boards of hamachi crudo with crispy dasheen, choquette, frisée and rose apple. Towers of torched oysters lathered with flying fish roe. Platters of braised bright heirloom carrots on beds of charred cabbage, toasted chana, and collard pesto – paired with intergalactic Sun Ra-themed cocktails and global wine selections. Chef Toya Henry, Keem Hughley Al Thompson, Nadine Brown and Drummond Projects have created a three-level 5,300-square-foot restaurant for you to experience the imagined travels of Alonzo Bronze.
