Assistant Wine Director – Michelin Star Restaurant Group

Location: New York, New York – Relocation Option

Salary: $85,000 to $95,000 DOE + Bonus + Benefits + Work/Life Balance   

The Company:

We are working with an iconic Michelin Star restaurant group; this restaurant offers the most exquisite cuisine and has been consistently evolving since their opening 10 years ago. This team is driven by providing experiences like no other restaurant, and work as a very close team – the ego factor is low here. This role works closely with the General Manager and Wine Director to manage an impressive 23,000 wine bottles and a team of 9 Sommeliers.

The Assistant Wine Director’s responsibilities:

• Assist the Wine Director on the selections on the wines used in the restaurant
• Work closely with the chef paring food items with wines
• Work on the floor to oversee service and sommeliers
• Assist the Wine Director with training employees on wine and beverage service and knowledge
• Maintain a high level of service and Michelin star standards by educating the staff on service technique, culture and developing personalized customer service
• Assist with monthly inventory management

Ideal Assistant Wine Director candidate:

• 2 + years in a management position
• You hold the court of Master Sommelier certificate (preferred)
• Previous experience in a Michelin setting is a must
• You have a good understanding of computers (MS Word, Excel) along with Accounting, POS, Reservation Software
• You are a people person who has great communication skills and approach your team with a humble attitude
• You are always focused on giving the customer a great experience
• You are a hospitality and operations expert in the luxury food and beverage industry
