Based in the West Loop area, our new cutting-edge design, The Texan Taco Bar, is an up-and-coming Tex-Mex inspired cuisine that offers remarkable service with 2 floors of dining experience, including a patio and retractable rooftop overlooking Randolph Street.
Our ideal Sous Chef candidate will employ their culinary and managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers' satisfaction. Our Sous Chefs are second in command in our kitchen following the Executive Chef's specifications and guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and run kitchen when the executive chef is not around
- Order supplies, maintaining weekly inventory, and contacting sales reps if there are issues with orders
- Accurately code invoices and enter them into a Cost Sheet
- Pull sales and labor numbers from Aloha and enter them into a Cost Sheet
- Ensure that exemplary standards of sanitation and cleanliness are always maintained throughout the kitchen areas
- Check on quality of food before it's served to guests
- Train cooks in the preparation process so all meals are uniform
- Schedule employees week to week ensuring each area of the kitchen is properly staffed
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2+ years in management experience
- Be able to work in a high energy/fast paced environment
- Be able to work 50/60 hours per week
- Must be able to work Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Knowledge and use of all cooking methods including broil, sauté, grill, sauces, general food prep, and proper knife handling
- Look presentable and professional
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and teach other culinary team members.
- Must be reliable, positive, team oriented and willing to learn.
- Must take instruction as well as initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication, teamwork, listening and time management skills
- Ability to perform under pressure with good customer service skills
- Endure physical activities such as reaching, bending, kneeling, stocking, and moving about the facility
- City of Chicago food service managers certificate.
