Major Food Group, the team that brought you Carbone, is now hiring talented and passionate Sous Chefs to join our team and assist our newest opening in Design District - Contessa!

Inspired by the old-world sophistication of Northern Italy’s iconic resorts and estates, Contessa is a glamorous dining destination by Major Food Group that transports guests to Lake Como.The restaurant serves antipasti including a Carpaccio of Chianina Beef and the most coveted Italian prosciutto; a range of signature pizzas and perfectly crafted pastas like Tortellini en Brodo and Garganelli Verdi Bolognese; and celebratory secondi that highlight the very finest meat, poultry, and fish in the world.

Major Food Group is New York based restaurant and hospitality company founded by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi, and Jeff Zalaznick. The founders all exhibit a wealth of knowledge in the food, hospitality, and business sectors.

Our ideal candidates who will assist in carrying our culture, standards of service, and quality of food to the new location. While comparable experience is preferable, any individual with passion and love for people, food, and wine will certainly be welcomed.Experience in Michelin starred restaurants is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner
  • Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
  • Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
  • Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation
  • Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality
  • Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
  • Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
  • Taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef

 

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of progressive culinary experience.
  • Michelin Rated/Fine Dining restaurant experience is preferred.
  • Proven ability in teaching and mentoring employees
  • Outstanding communication and supervisory skills
  • Self motivated and demonstrates quick thinking
