The Schulson Collective is looking for a dynamic, solutions-oriented person to direct their Human Resources Department.  The ideal candidate has previous experience in hospitality operations, as well as a background in human resources, employee relations, and labor law.  If you, or someone you know, is someone who loves to help employees grow, solve problems, and direct organizational growth, this may be the perfect opportunity!

Summary/Objective 
The Director of People & Culture is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function.

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  2. Responsible for working with restaurant management for the recruiting function of the company.
  3. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.
  4. Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  5. Responsible for guiding restaurant management when it comes to disciplinary issues, including terminations.
  6. Conducts investigations as necessary.
  7. Manages company’s health insurance plan with outside brokers.
  8. Communicates changes in the organization's policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
  9. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
  10. Works directly with restaurant management to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  11. Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization.
  12. Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.

Supervisory Responsibility

Directs Human Resources team and function both in office and within the restaurant group.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally push and/or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee will spend over 4 hours daily standing or walking.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field required
  2. Certification in Human Resources Management (SHRM or HRCI) strongly preferred
  3. Seven (7) or more years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in the hospitality industry
  4. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products and other software needed to effectively complete essential duties.
  5. Knowledge of Paycor or proficiency with similar HRM systems preferred but not required
  6. Previous Hospitality Operations experience preferred but not required
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
  8. Must be able to develop effective strategies for employee recruitment and development.
