Thirsty Dice is Philadelphia’s original board game cafe focused on curating an experience rooted in communication, hospitality, and fun. Thirsty Dice is looking for a General Manager. Board games evoke a visceral response connected to positive memories with friends, family, and loved ones. While re-introducing people to those feelings of joy and fun, we aim to maintain a high quality of hospitality and service in all aspects of the cafe.

We are a hospitality organization dedicated to showcasing local talent and products, but above all else, we ask ourselves, “How does this affect our guests in their game-playing experience?”

Position requirements:

• Focuses on outcomes – not hours in the building. Is a self-starter and responsible to work
remotely and trusted to have a flexible schedule provided objectives are being met.

• Recognizes that all members of the Thirsty Dice team own the outcomes and the work to achieve them and is flexible in both accepting and shifting responsibilities in support of achieving outcomes.

• Demonstrates servant leadership among staff. Makes others’ development a top priority in
order to assist their personal growth so that they are energized in leading their respective teams.

• Builds and sustains positive relationships with all stakeholder communities, including employees, guests, vendors,
shareholders, and the community in which we operate.

• Works with the owner to build, establish and elevate employee culture, assists staff in adopting it, and guards it zealously.
• Staff management including hiring, training and development, scheduling, and payroll
• Guest experience management – provides exemplary hospitality and is a mentor for staff to
aspire to. Acts as a driving force in maintaining excellent (4.5+ stars) on Google.

• Continuous Operational Improvement – Balancing empirical approaches from POS data with
guest experience and practical experience.

• Continuous Experience improvement – solves problems but also works collaboratively to
reimagine how to bring the fun of games to guests in new ways.

• Beverage program – manage coffee, beer, wine, and cocktail program.

• Supports Events management for on-premise experience and group events.

• Manages purchases as needed and submits appropriate invoices in a timely manner.

• Enforces company standards, policies, and procedures, including sanitation, safety, dress codes, and cash handling.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of restaurant management experience in fast-paced,

food-centric, well-rated restaurant/hospitality group, and at least 2 years of service

experience in a fast-paced, food-centric, well-rated restaurant.

• Cash handling experience and effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary. More importantly, the General Manager must have the ability to teach and lead a team with passion while promoting a team atmosphere and as part of a team.
