Position Summary

This position is designed to provide elevated wine service to our guests and to go above and beyond traditional front of house beverage operations, combining elements of sales, marketing, wine service, and hospitality. The goal is to guide the customer experience to new heights through our wine, going above and beyond traditional management duties, educating staff and guests in a friendly, approachable, fun and sophisticated environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Advocate for, market, and sell District Winery wines to guests at the tasting bar by presenting wines, specials, library and bottle list items
  • Enhance the customer experience via wine service, knowledge, and sales
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting details regarding retail and wine club sign ups, in addition to tasting room operations
  • Maintain ongoing FOH staff training on wines by the glass and library wines so that they can confidently recommend and upsell wines to guests
  • Responsible for reviewing goals with management and developing a plan/strategy to achieve retail sales and wine club membership goals
  • Conduct weekly wine inventory, warehouse wine ordering and stocking
  • Maintain wine storage, ensuring racks are replenished throughout the week, boxes are broken down and wine is organized
  • Conduct winery tours, curated wine tastings, classes, and private event team building products as needed
  • Conduct impromptu mini tours to give guests an unparalleled experience
  • Manage vintage updates and new wine releases, including communication with Marketing Manager for collateral generation and upkeep (menus, tasting sheets, etc.) and communication with E-Commerce for webstore updates
  • Schedule and manage Tasting Bar and Wine Education staff
  • Support, mentor, assist and train tasting bar staff while fostering their wine knowledge
  • Assist Marketing Manager in staffing offsite events and work high profile events if needed
  • Provide marketing support in the development and execution of specials, holiday retail packages, moving wine inventory, etc
  • Train and certify competency of tour guides and wine class instructors
  • Facilitate communication between tasting bar associates, management, marketing and e-commerce
  • Facilitate online order and wine club pickups with tasting bar staff
  • Develop new wine curriculum and tailor for District Winery
  • Control flow of service and monitor guests’ consumption of alcohol
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required
  • Abide by sanitation, health, and company guidelines, concerning safety, cleanliness, and alcoholic beverages.


  • Wine enthusiast - a passion for wine and educating others about wine. Formal wine knowledge preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in winery, bar, restaurant, and/or hospitality industry
  • Highly Motivated, independent, self-starter
  • Outstanding verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to coach, train and motivate employees with strong understanding of employee skill development and personnel management
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in operating POS (point of sale) and back-office systems - cash reconciliation, server checkouts

General Hours

40 hours per week.

Nights and weekends required


$60,00-$75,000k annually

Currently this role reports to the Director of Operations and Director of E-Commerce, but is subject to change.
