Position Summary

The Director of Operations will oversee all aspects of the Events Venue, Restaurant, Bar, and Tasting Room to maximize financial performance, guest satisfaction and staff development in accordance with the Company’s mission and established quality standards. This includes hiring, training, and coaching of the salaried and hourly staff. The Director of Operations will develop managers and team members to attain their maximum potential while delivering excellent customer service through innovation, strategy, motivation, vision, goal setting, training,  and development

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all aspects of the business operate in accordance with the company vision and standards
  • Be the leader of creating and driving a culture focused around people and hospitality.
  • Oversee all of the various parts of the Chicago WInery operation including the restaurant, private event operations,  tasting room, and winery tour operations. 
  • Manage all food, beverage, and labor costs according to operating budgets. 
  • Work with the culinary and FOH management teams to create effective systems for service and execution. 
  • Possesses a firm understanding of the symbiotic relationship between FOH and Culinary operations. 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Organizes and conducts regular meetings both with the management team, as well as the hourly team members. 
  • Creates training and development plans for all FOH management, as well as ensure training agendas and criteria are organized and comprehensive for all new colleagues. 
  • Guides the management team to develop their personal career goals. 
  • Works with HR to create a pipeline for internal promotion and development. 
  • Oversees all online reputation management and ensures that guest feedback and communication is done in a timely and professional manner. 
  • Achieves mutually agreed upon guest service KPI’s. 
  • Works closely and professionally with other departments including (HR, Sales, Marketing, Winery, Culinary) and ensures communication is clear and effective. 
  • Leads all unit based recruitment efforts for both hourly and management staff. 
  • Ensure all team members have all local mandated certifications and trainings 
  • Creates and manages internal inventory, purchasing, requisition, and transfer systems. 
  • Conducts regular management reviews highlighting both successes and areas of opportunity. 
  • Coach and Counsel team members to enact healthy improvements; focusing on both disciplinary, areas of improvement, and positive reinforcement all with a focus on consistency. 
  • Manages facility maintenance and coordinates all building repair and upkeep.
  • Represents First Batch Hospitality in a professional manner both in the winery, as well as when outside of the physical building.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years hospitality leadership experience. 
  • Highly Motivated, independent, self-starter
  • Outstanding verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to coach, train and motivate employees with strong understanding of employee skill development and personnel management
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in front of house operations management with strong financial acumen
