Job Details
Chef and Partner Chintan Pandya and restaurateur Roni Mazumdar of the critically acclaimed Dhamaka, Rahi and Adda Indian Canteen are bringing Semma, a new “Unapologetic Indian” restaurant serving provincial Southern Indian cuisine in the West Village.

We are looking for an experienced and welcoming Floor Captain to join our team.

Our Floor Captain will focus on assistant the Manager on maintaining our team, growing our customer base by exceeding service standards consistently. He or She will incorporate our core values and mission into their daily structure and execution.

The ideal candidate models the exemplary leadership skills necessary to operate a high performing restaurant. Also work  closely with the restaurant manager to ensure operations, service, and other back-of-house and front-of-house needs are run efficiently and meet both financial and quality objectives.


Restaurant Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensures cash policies and procedures are being followed at all times.
  • Assist with inventory beverage inventory.
  • Cultivates a culture of providing the highest level of hospitality between the guests and employees.
  • Holds the team accountable through service
  • Coordinate morale and exceeding customer expectation with attention to quickness and accuracy
  • Ensures products are consistent with company quality standards
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations

Requirements & Skills
  • 3-5 years of Captain/ Lead Server.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform in with a frequent interruptions and / or distractions..
  • Ability to communicate efficiently to help keep all team members informed of business changes and standards.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time while leading the team and serving guests.
  • Available and able to work all shifts in the restaurant as scheduled to meet the needs of the business.
  • Team oriented, adaptable, dependable, and strong work ethic.
  • Exceptional customer service skills required
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills required
  • Basic business math and accounting skills required
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Enjoys working with people
  • Ability to create a fun environment for customers and staff
  • Self-motivated and highly energetic
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Food Handlers Certificate

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($12.00 - $14.00) plus tips
