Los Angeles' République Restaurant is looking for a service-oriented Assistant General Manager to provide support to the General Manager and help oversee our popular, high-volume restaurant.

Located in a historic building in LA's Miracle Mile, République is a fast-paced, raucous environment, with critically-lauded food, drink, and service that keep the restaurant busy every night.

République is owned and operated by acclaimed chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke, who visit local farmers markets daily to ensure they procure only the freshest and highest-quality seasonal ingredients available. Much like the ingredients they source, the restaurant is likewise committed to procuring high-quality talent and fostering a culture of respect, inclusion and personal and professional growth. Assistant General Manager duties include handling restaurant operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing inventory, coordinating employee scheduling, monitoring regulation compliance, supervising and developing team members, and promoting the restaurant brand.

The ideal candidate is skilled at handling interpersonal communications, managing teams, and creating a distinctive, memorable experience for each and every guest that walks through our door.

In addition to these skills, the ideal Assistant General Manager understands how to be level-headed, professional, and fair. They will confront many day-to-day variables, such as managing a range of personalities, keeping up with our ever-evolving menus, and the need to come up with unique, innovative solutions on the fly. We are looking for someone experienced, knowledgeable, passionate, responsible, and—most importantly—authentically themselves.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.
• Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
• Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance, sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.
• Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
• Assist GM with employment and termination decisions.
• Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
• Continually strive to develop your staff in all areas of managerial and professional development.
• Participate with management team in preparing all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
• Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant's cleaning/preventative maintenance programs. 
• Oversee and ensure that restaurant policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis.
• Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed as needed and labor cost goals are met.
• Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs. Take fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
• Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.

Working Conditions and Expectations:
• Work schedule may require weekends and holidays, early morning and late evenings.
• Shifts will range from 9 - 12 hours.
• Must have the stamina to work 50 to 60 hours per week.
• Fast paced, crowded, loud environment. 
• Always act in a professional manner that represents the restaurant, owners, partners and staff. 
• Demonstrate teamwork in all areas of the restaurant
• Work with a positive attitude in all types of situations
• Strong, positive and respectful communication skills
• Follow safety and sanitation rules and laws at all times
• Always act in the best interest of the restaurant, fellow employees and guests.
• Create, maintain a positive, safe and productive working environment
• Coaching and mentoring staff to develop a team and encourage promoting within.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($50,000.00 - $70,000.00)
