Why Join Vertice?

We have a radical vision for what hospitality can be: not just a one-way experience, but a two-way exchange for both guest and host. We want to participate in and lead a different kind of hospitality: one that’s transformative, collaborative, meaningful—a hospitality that teaches people to form a community that can lead society forward.

We strive to perform at the highest level, with an eye for continuous improvement and a spirit of true collaboration. As an organization, we value integrity, stewardship, growth, and humility. We bring a sense of warmth and reverence to everything we do.

We want to give the next generation of leaders the tools and structure they need to succeed. We support our employees in their personal and professional growth, helping their whole selves to thrive.

Retail Operations Manager

You’re a fun, hardworking, experienced retail manager who is passionate about our guest experience and committed to using your skills to create beautiful, carefully curated displays in our stores.

You’ll use your retail, merchandising, business, people, and storytelling expertise to strategize, plan and facilitate a warm experience that furthers our store presence. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our SingleThread and Little Saint teams to drive sales with merchandise that is thoughtful, sustainable, and good to the world.

What you’ll be doing in this role…

You will lead operations at each location and will be responsible for making sure the stores function smoothly while optimizing profits. You will lead assortment planning, purchasing, merchandising, inventory processes and hiring across all retail locations. You are also responsible for overseeing and ensuring receiving and restocking efforts are executed in accordance with required standards, and be willing to assist personally as needed. You will be expected to lead creation of SOPs and processes to ensure efficient operations, and will be required to work collaboratively with leadership and management at multiple locations.

This describes you:

  • You live and breathe retail and customer service and have a constant pulse on new trends and what works
  • You possess an infectious enthusiasm for food and sustainability and the ability to clearly communicate with guests and motivate their team.
  • You’re a pro at growing sales and driving traffic
  • You are able to juggle multiple projects while communicating honestly about your timelines, challenges and questions
  • You love retail and personal development
  • You’re experienced with retail sales KPIs and use them to define, monitor, and grow the business
  • You have experience working with and giving feedback to external creators
  • You’re an effective, clear communicator
  • You’re always on time (or early) and strive to deliver ahead of deadlines
  • You care deeply about your work, colleagues, and the wellbeing of our company
  • You’re not thin skinned or (overly) attached to your ego — you’re focused on finding, developing, and executing on the best ideas to get the best results
  • You do great work autonomously and as part of a highly collaborative team
  • You do whatever it takes, and the phrase “that’s not my job” is not a part of your vocabulary
  • You’re a born go getter - always looking for ways to add value, do better work, improve efficiencies, build others up and drive results!

In an ideal world, you have:

  • Minimum 2+ years of retail operations and management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent  and professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information.
  • Excellent team management, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize time and meet deadlines under time constraints.
  • Proficiency in  PC and/or Mac based MS Office, POS, finance and inventory management systems.
  • Creative problem solving and critical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work a varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time, reach, bend, stoop, climb and frequently lift up to 30 pounds

Compensation + Benefits

  • Competitive Salary
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Plans
  • Paid Time Off - Including Vacation, Sick and Mental Health Time Off
  • 401(k) w/ company discretionary match
  • Employee dining and wine discounts
  • Employee Assistance Program - 8 free counseling sessions annually

Fine Dining

SingleThread is a source-focused, farm-driven restaurant and inn concept that offers its diners and guests time-honored preparations of seasonally inspired cuisine and a uniquely curated taste of Sonoma Wine Country. The concept was born out of Kyle and Katina Connaughton's Southern California upbringing as well as their extensive international travels and experiences living and cooking abroad in both the UK and Japan. Our foundation is rooted in the Japanese concept of 'omotenashi', a heightened sense of hospitality and anticipation of a guest’s every need. For us, the relationship between farmer and chef is more than a side story; it is the heart of the experience.
