Job Details

General Purpose of Job

Safely prepare ingredients as directed or needed by kitchen manager, lead chef, sous chef, or executive chef. Execute offsite events as needed per company needs and standards or as directed by offsite lead chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Uphold the high standards of 24 Carrots’ handbook and policies
  2. Represent and uphold the 24 Carrots core values: Trustworthiness, Collaboration, Service Excellence and Dedication
  3. Maintain safety and organization in the kitchen
  4. Requires an understanding of federal, state, and local kitchen health and safety standards
  5. Responsible for compliance with industry food safety standards
  6. Ability to work with special food handling requirements for certain dishes such as vegan or gluten-free
  7. Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the 24 Carrots’ recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
  8. Read and understand all banquet event orders
  9. Stay on task and work effectively
  10. Rotate stock to maintain freshness
  11. Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment
  12. Wash, chop, grate and slice any product that is needed to go in various dishes
  13. Cut and slice meats to the appropriate portion sizes
  14. Make appetizers, soups, salads, sauces, and anything else that is needed
  15. Ensure that all items are prepped in accordance with the banquet event order
  16. Prep food as needed dependent on level and flow of business
  17. Wear gloves at all times
  18. Ensure offsite policies are being followed
  19. Ensure velon is on tables when offsite at all times
  20. Possess adaptability skills for offsite work environments.

Qualifications

  7. Must possess a current California Food Handler’s card. 

Education and/or Experience

  1. One to three months related experience and/or training required
  2. Reliable transportation and clean driving record required
  3. California Food Handler’s card within 30 days of hire.

Language Skills

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  3. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  4. Ability to speak and understand English.

Mathematical Skills

  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  2. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

  1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
  2. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Uniform Expectations

All uniform items should be clean, and in good condition free from tears, stains or fading.
