Everything’s Jake will be one of the Union Square neighborhoods newest bar/lounges when it opens in Fall 2022. Featuring craft cocktails and delicious small plates, Everything’s Jake aims to be the destination spot for fun-loving individuals, working professionals, graduate students, cocktail aficionados, and gourmands alike. The bar/lounge concept will offer 65 seats upon opening and will expand to two levels and 160+ seats by Spring 2023. Everything’s Jake will feature an approachably luxurious décor and an energetic atmosphere. Who We’re Looking For:

Everything’s Jake is seeking a highly skilled, reliable, dedicated, and collaborative Chef de Cuisine (CdC). The CdC will oversee all food service operations and food service staff in the business and report to the owner and General Manager. Everything’s Jake is looking for a candidate who is excited by the opportunity to helm a kitchen and produce a compact and well-curated bar menu at what is expected to be fairly high volumes and tempo. The CdC should bring a high level of professionalism, organization, and continual improvement to the position. While the primary focus of the Everything’s Jake will be on cocktails and the bar/lounge experience, we aim to offer fun, delicious, and carefully executed menu items to complement that experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the leader of our kitchen team, preparing and executing the menu in collaboration with ownership at a high level of quality and precision
  • Train and build kitchen team to appropriate sizes for first opening phase (65 seats) and second opening phase (160 seats total)
  • Learn, manage, and be able to train other on all stations in the kitchen, including station management, stocking, and sanitation
  • Work and expedite in a high-volume and high-intensity kitchen and work environment and be able to handle rigors of busy services while maintaining quality and consistency
  • Develop, cost, and trial-run new menu items in collaboration with ownership
  • Oversee BOH staff scheduling, attendance, and discipline as needed
  • Manage kitchen inventory, costs, portion control, and food waste and implement corrective measures as needed
  • Support other areas of the kitchen as needed, and be able and willing to assist teammates in the kitchen as needed, including handling duties of other stations
  • Maintain clean restaurant and adhere strictly to all COVID-19 health and safety standards

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant restaurant and kitchen leadership experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of food preparation techniques, equipment, and standards
  • Genuine passion for cooking and restaurant/bar hospitality
  • Highly organized, productive, and able to work meticulously in a high-intensity kitchen and work environment
  • Energetic and friendly personality, and able to develop a cohesive, mutually supportive kitchen and steward team
  • Able to take direction and coaching from supervisors
  • Able to effectively, calmly, and empathetically provide direction and coaching to kitchen team
  • Broad availability to work AM/PM service as well as prep and production as needed
  • Proficient in all standard cost controls, waste management, ordering, inventory, POS systems, Microsoft office, and computer functions
  • Experience in managing and maintaining all DOH food safety standards, requirements, policies and systems to adhere to them
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion, movement and navigation throughout a multi-level venue, as well as exposure to hot kitchen elements, raw foods, and/or cleaning materials
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Experience in following all NYS labor responsibilities, laws, requirements, regulations and policies
  • Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must have an active/valid DOHMH Food Handler’s Certificate


Compensation: $70,000-80,000 annual salary range with opportunity for performance bonus.
