Hello. We are looking to hire the front of the house shift leader who is passionate about hospitality. We are looking for a motivated Shift Leader to oversee daily operations during designated shifts, supervise employees, and ensure that our customers receive outstanding service.

Fish & Bird Sousaku Izakaya is an authentic Japanese restaurant with contemporary California flair. Our executive chef is trained in Japanese and French cuisine. We also have an amazing trained sushi chef with years of experience working with fish at the highest echelon. We serve true Japanese food we grew up with in Japan, and feel the level of Japanese cuisine here needs to be better than it is now. We want to work with people who are interested in learning about the intricacy of Japanese cuisine, how its prepared and served. We are looking for people who want to grow together with us.

This is a full-time position with health benefits and 401(k) plan.

Responsibilities as a server lead:

Supervise employees, assigning duties, and creating a shift schedule.
Monitor team performance and ensuring duties are performed efficiently.
Report any issues that arise during the shift to management.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health, and safety standards.
Coaching team members and training new staff.
Manage opening and closing duties ensuring all the tasks are completed
Handling customer issues and escalating to management as needed
Answer phones and call customers for reservations as well as questions
Greet and make all guests feel welcome at the restaurant
Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion
Be knowledgeable regarding our concept, food and beverages
Explain our restaurant concept and menu to customers and make recommendations
Serve food & beverages to the customers
Clean and prepare the dining areas
Perform other restaurant duties as assigned
Understanding of reservation system as well as POS

Qualifications for all the positions:
Previous experience in customer service, food service, hospitality, or related fields
Ability to build rapport with guests
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willing to work hard as a part of the team
Be caring of customers, co-workers and people around you
Have a, "No job is too small!" attitude -- you will be asked to clean in addition to hosting, running, serving, learning, etc.
Always stay busy -- if the restaurant is slow, then we need to be polishing glasses, silverware, etc. There will not be idle time.
Stay safe during this pandemic with masks and other safety protocol, including being up to date on COVID-19 vaccination
Be able to lift 50 lbs
Be eligible to work in the U.S.
