THE RESTAURANT

Xiquet (chee-KETT) by international award-winning Chef Danny Lledó joined the select ranks of MICHELIN Star restaurants in DC in 2021, just one year after first welcoming guests to the intimate dining room in Glover Park. Xiquet is now known as one of the best fine dining restaurants in Washington DC for its modern Spanish cuisine that showcases the finest products from around the world, served with warm, Mediterranean hospitality. The sought-after tasting menu experience showcases innovative preparations of the traditional cuisine of Valencia, ignited by a wood-fire kitchen.

A meal at Xiquet consists of a multi-course culinary experience that begins with tantalizing canapés and aperitivos at the Chef’s Counter on the first level. From there, you are guided upstairs to our airy top-floor dining room, delighting in the excitement and aromas as you pass by Chef Danny’s entirely wood-fire kitchen enclosed in glass. The experience concludes in our elegant mezzanine lounge with after-dinner drinks and special treats.

THE ROLE

We are searching for an outstanding, experienced General Manager to lead all aspects of front-of-house service and management at its Michelin-starred restaurant and wine bar in Glover Park. The GM is an essential leadership and managerial role in our operation. They exude warmth, generosity and an honest passion for hospitality to all guests as well as the team. They are able to train and mentor each team member to bring out the best in themselves while maintaining the service standard. This is a hands-on, culture building role that will lead the FOH team from start of the shift to closing, ensuring each guest has the exceptional experience that is intended.

The successful GM will have a excellent understanding of our style of service as well as our food and beverage offerings, and will work to uphold our standards every day. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight of all aspects of front-of-house service at Xiquet by Danny Lledo
  • Maintaining and improving on restaurant’s service standards in every way
  • Lead nightly restaurant pre-service and floor team preparations
  • Manage all aspects of guest relations with support of host team
  • Hire, train, manage, and schedule FOH team
  • Work closely with Executive Chef and kitchen leadership to ensure optimal food service experience for guests
  • Manage reservations book to ensure revenue is maximized and turn times are met
  • Manage and improve guest notes in the reservations book to build customer database
  • Train host team in management and strategic implementation of reservations book and customer database
  • Support and build team culture through training sessions, service education, and performance reviews
  • Oversee beverage inventory maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4+ years’ experience in an equivalent service or restaurant management role
  • High energy, enthusiastic, hands-on, and service-oriented personality
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Outstanding management, mentorship, and training abilities
  • Broad knowledge of wine, cocktail, and beverage service operations
  • Experience managing host and service teams
  • Passion for providing local/seasonal, simply prepared, destination dining experiences
  • Able to project manage and problem solve with attention to timeliness and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to be a calm problem-solver in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand and work for shifts of 8+ hours
  • Available to work holidays and weekends
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times
  • Ability to communicate clear and concise verbal and written instructions
