Job Description: Kitchen Manager

Looking for a dedicated kitchen manager for a small tight team in brand new Seal Beach restaurant!

Works alongside exec chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including hiring and overseeing kitchen staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. Provides meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.

Kitchen Manager Job Duties:

  • Leads kitchen team in exec chef's absence
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients – ordering supplies and ingredients based on pars and necessity
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
  • Trains new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards
  • Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimizes waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction, and manage budgetary concerns
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
  • Works with exec chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
  • Assists exec chef with menu creation
  • Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing
  • Placing food and supplies orders
Physical Demands: 
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: < 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and hot/cold environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Quailifications 
  • 3 years of culinary management experience preferred.
  • Serve Safe Certified
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time wisely

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly (Based on Experience) plus tips
