Balancing inspiration from the modern built forms of Singapore with traditional patterns to create a restaurant space that is imbued with culture. The elegant space includes 30ft ceilings, 2 beautiful bars, chefs table, and an expansive patio.

Bringing the flavors of the East to Virginia, Chef Mamu Rashidin is introducing dishes not seen in the region. Highly focused on seafood, Jiwa will offer small plates, a la carte, and a "makan-hidang" a chefs tasting menu that highlights the flavors of Singapore.

The Role:

As the Floor Manager of Jiwa, your role will be building an elevated bar program to match the level of sophistication of the cuisine. This involves planning, training of staff, education, development, and organization.

This position has ownership over resturant floor, with oversight and approval from the AGM & GM. At Jiwa We are one team with a  focus, based on building a restaurant that is beautiful in every aspect (food, beverage, service, and design).  

During normal business hours you will be required to manage the hosts, servers, server assistants, bartenders, and cleaners. This position wears many hats, which will help us grow to the next level. All managers at Jiwa are expected to be knowledgeable and able to perform all positions and their functions . The position must have thorough knowledge of each item on the menu and specials to help a guest decide between entrée options, explain ingredients and preparation methods.

This role requires a sociable multitasker who can oversee the work of a team while simultaneously interacting with customers. With creation, education, and experience being the main focus, keeping track of what has been taught and an organized method to update any new staff we hire. 

Communicate with other employees at the restaurant. Keep in close contact with the chef and kitchen staff to learn about changes and ensure food orders are processed efficiently. Confirm beverage stock with bartenders and check for any drink specials. Delegate tasks to bussers and cleaners as necessary. 

In the beginning, evaluation of our program and our current focus as to where we see it going, so we can lay out a plan/roadmap to grow the bar towards being where we want it to be. A solid program will rely upon our staff being knowledgeable about our products, which means training will always be a big part of the job. 

Floor Manager:

  • Works directly with Servers to ensure a one of a kind guest experience
  • Creates training, development, evaluation and discipline protocol for servers, host, food runners and server assistants
  • Open/Close minimum of 4 shifts/week 
  • Assume AGM floor responsibilities in their absence
  • Assist with inventory monitoring and control procedures
  • Attends weekly FOH Manager meetings
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings and all knowledge tests and checks
  • Conduct bi-weekly FOH manager meeting w/ floor manager(s) and lead servers
  • Conducts table touches to a minimum of 15% of covers and reports results
  • Fills in for any FOH department as needed
  • Calculation and distribution of tips to employees
  • Responsible for all floor operations including opening and closing, department training, monitoring and adjusting Opentable as needed, guest interactions, problem solving, filling in for any department as needed, and approval of shifts changes for all non-management front of house staff.
  • Reports directly to Sr FOH Manager
  • Ensures a flawless guest service by monitoring food and beverage quality control, proper staff job performance
  • Creates and executes a cleaning and maintenance schedule for servers, server assistants and food runners
  • Opens/closes a minimum of 4 shifts/week
  • Calculation and distribution of tips to employees
  • Cash Reconciliation
  • Performs voids, comps and discounts as authorized by Senior Management Team
  • Conducts table touches to a minimum of 15% of covers and reports results
