Summary
The Beverage Director is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing all beverage operations to include, but not limited to guest experience, product quality, cost controls, profitability, budgeting and forecasting, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement and meeting participation and facilitation
Duties and Responsibilities

Using the Beverage Director’s independent discretion and judgment, the position:
• Develops menus for bar, private events, cocktail receptions, weddings, etc. based on client preferences and budgetary considerations • Creates new drinks, update drink lists, and educate staff on beverage trends • Maintains relationships with local liquor suppliers to ensure an adequate supply of spirits for bar operations • Manages inventory levels of alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic mixers and ingredients used in cocktails and other drinks • Researches new products and trends in the beverage industry to stay updated on latest offerings • Reviews and approve all new drink recipes before they are served in order to maintain brand standards • Coordinates with event planners and catering managers to ensure that all food and drink needs are met during large events • Direct management of all Beverage operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and counseling, auditing/inspecting work to ensure standards are met, promoting teamwork and inclusiveness, scheduling, conducting performance management with staff (reviews, address sub-standard performance). • Oversees programs and processes to identify efficiencies and to reduce costs in all areas of responsibility. • Maintains positive client and guest relations; respond to client requests and ensure alignment with company standards; investigate and follows through on client and guest complaints. • Achieves Beverage operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; determining system improvements and implementing change. • Develops budget and monitors profitability of Beverage operations; recommend and establish pricing and portions for products and services within approved profit and plan guidelines. Manages operating expenses and labor costs. • Creates opening beverage and wine menus and maintain and update menu items every season or as needed • Collaborates with owners and executive team to create and maintain beverage program of high standards and consistent quality • Ensures compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards • Creates and maintain bar training programs from beverage making and service structure and standards • Adheres to company policies and state and local restaurant/bar regulations • Any and all other duties as assigned Skills and Abilities • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively engage with others. • Ability to listen and speak in order to maintain effective communications in the performance of essential job functions. • Ability to read and comprehend multiple data sources, such as written work instructions, policies, procedures and other work materials in order to perform essential duties in accordance with safety, sanitation and operational standards and trainings. • Effective writing skills to compose ideas, work instructions and directives, policies/procedures, corrective actions, and other communications. • Expert in operational financial management accountability and budgeting • Strong POS (Aloha) operational and programming experience • Working knowledge of information technology and social media platforms. • Fundamental business management experience which includes industry knowledge, financial management, and organizational development practices. • Expert knowledge of government health, hotel, or food service regulations to ensure organization maintains full compliance • Proactive and self-motivated, with strong organizational and time management skills. • Highly organized, detailed oriented, and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities Work Behaviors • Exemplifies the Company’s values. • Fosters and promotes effective employee relations, including a workplace culture of hospitality, respect, safety and sanitation. • Consistently manages, evaluates and documents employee behavior and performance. • Demonstrates a responsive, caring and respectful approach in all personal interactions with others. • Complies policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, sanitation, food and alcohol service, code of conduct, work rules and management instructions, and deadlines. • Complies with all hygiene, personal grooming, dress code requirements. • Participates in all required trainings and completes all required examinations
