Job Details

The General Manager will be managing a team of servers, bussers, floor supervisors and baristas across two locations. One is a fully-operational bar + restaurant, the other, a take-out cafe model. The General Manager must have the ability to articulate the vision of the restaurant for both models and be able to collaborate with the owners and other managers to move the restaurants forward financially and creatively. 

The GM has a team of managers and supervisors to assign duties to and is responsible for their education and execution of tasks.

Key Qualifications:

The GM must be able to serve, bus, be attentive and empathic toward guest problems, and work any position during any given shift.

Must work within the vision of the owners and the style of the restaurant when implementing menu changes.

Must be motivated to increase sales and profitability.

Strong and very positive leadership qualities are necessary. GM must remain calm at all times and be a primary source of motivation for staff, front and back of the house.

Be a positive addition to the team, work together to improve and not point out problems or weaknesses until an appropriate time.

The GM must be able to collaborate with owners on a daily or weekly basis on the vision for the company, upcoming events and needs as they relate to equipment, staffing and any other items, as appropriate.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Manage all aspects of the selecting, interviewing, hiring, training, managing, supervising, scheduling, and conducting of performance reviews of all FOH staff of each location
  • Approve schedules, labor policies, and procedures for FOH Staff
  • Establish and enforce performance expectations of FOH Staff and provide regular feedback to staff 
  • Administer and manage all aspects of payroll obligations with respect to FOH staff in a timely manner and in compliance with company policies
  • Respond promptly and effectively to customer emails and messages
  • Update and manage POS system (Square) whenever needed
  • Generally manage and oversee both locations at the level necessary to meet or exceed expectations consistent with a restaurant operating at New York City operational standards.
  • Oversee and execute regular cleaning operations with respect to each location, make all necessary repairs and replacements of furniture, fixtures, and equipment used in connection with each location
  • Meet regularly with the executive chef to make sure FOH staff knows, and is trained on, any menu additions or specials.
  • Take all reasonable and necessary measures to ensure that each location satisfies all applicable codes and regulations promulgated by the New York City Department of Health, such that each location shall obtain a letter grade of “A”
  • Meet regularly with the events and marketing manger to help plan and/or organize upcoming events at either location
  • Regular on-site presence at all locations during strategic day parts in order to assess performance and make necessary adjustments to service
  • Take personal responsibility for all workings of the floor.  Problem solving not pointing out problems is essential.
  • Assist in planning and execution of all special events on and off site (if necessary)
  • Support the actions and decisions of fellow managers in the presence of the staff to ensure a cohesive management team
  • Have a positive and working relationship with the BOH team
  • Participate in service by leading through positive example and being proactive to solutions
  • Ability to bring problems to light with a specific solution in mind

The GM must be available to work nights and weekends.

Pasta Louise is a neighborhood gathering spot to eat some pasta, grab a glass of wine, hang out with friends, have some hot chocolate. You can pick up a coffee on the way to work, and a pasta kit on your way home. Or maybe sit down with us at any of our outdoor tables... we even have heaters and shelter from the rain!

Our cooking is simple, casual and comforting. We have big salads, and tasty things to add to your pasta, like burrata, house made ricotta and crispy prosciutto. All of our sauces are made from scratch, and we use local, organic ingredients whenever possible. Our homemade focaccia is pretty fantastic too!

Our homemade ice cream is just as tasty as our pasta. The flavors change daily, and we have a bunch of great toppings!
