The Dandy Hospitality Group is based in the Nomad area of Manhattan. We are focused on creating high quality cocktail and culinary destinations that are approachable, fun, and satisfying. We are laser-focused on building neighborhood-driven experiences that are welcoming and act as an extension of the residents living room--- a hub for entertainment, hosting, imbibing, meeting and hanging.

Dandy is looking for a General Manger for The Ivory Peacock. This role would join our leadership team at our dual level venue The Ivory Peacock & Ploume opening in Fall 2022, as the General Manager of The Ivory Peacock (the upstairs venue).

Our dual level venue is an 8,000 square foot cocktail-driven bar/restaurant with Japanese & French inspired small plates. We offer a beautiful raw bar program to pair with an extensive spirits collection. The two level space features a social club lounge below that will operate as a post-dinner destination below the primary bar and dining experience.

We are looking for a rockstar General Manager to work hand in glove with the Director of Restaurants to provide leadership and support for the front of house team.

The General Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of service for the Ivory Peacock. As a critical part of the venue’s opening team, The GM will work from the ground up to collaborate on the hiring, venue setup,  service steps, practices, and management systems in partnership with the leadership team. This team will govern the operation in conjunction with the ownership team from pre-opening through to operation.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist Director of Restaurants in leading the service staff to provide a reliable, unforgettable, and consistent guest experience.
  • Manage general operations, handle HR related responsibilities,  and make smart business decisions as a company representative.
  • Opening and closing the restaurant.
  • Efficiently reviews and completes all tasks that have been assigned by the Director of Restaurants or the Director of Operations.
  • Analyzes the guest experience with a view to driving improvements, providing a clear presentation of those thoughts to the General Manager.
  • Developes avenues for staff growth and drives performance, keeping staff engaged, encouraged and with high morale.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment, and prioritizes team collaboration and communication for all departments front and back.
  • Ensures that company announcements, important information, and goals are clearly delivered to staff in a timely manner.
  • Completes assigned administrative responsibilities as directed by the Director of Restaurants or the Director of Operations.
  • Demonstrates excellence in maintaining all aspects of the operations. Ensures the venue is presentable at all times and is in excellent working condition
  • Responsible for ordering small good and disposables 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills
  • Prior working knowledge of Resy and SevenRooms platforms preferred, but not required
  • POS programming acumen 
  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience in a similar environment
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in Hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise gained from time on the job
  • English fluency and Spanish preferred, but not required 
  • Proficient in all standard POS systems, Microsoft office, computers
  • Possess all New York mandated food safety certifications
  • Experience in managing and maintaining all DOH food safety standards, requirements, policies and systems to adhere to them
  • Experience in following all NYS labor responsibilities, laws, requirements, regulations and policies

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend and lift to 50 lbs
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion, movement and navigation throughout a bilevel venue
  • Exposure to hot kitchen elements, raw foods, and/or cleaning materials.
  • Must be able to remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends and holidays
