We are looking for a dedicated sous chef with an eye for detail, strong work ethic, reliability, self motivation, and that would like to grow within the company and as a chef.


The J. Parker is an iconic rooftop restaurant in the Hotel Lincoln. With an eye on creative cuisine and exceptional hospitality, the restaurant aims to provide every guest with a unique dining experience with a neighborhood feel.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for, under the direction of the executive chef, assisting in the leadership and quality assurance in culinary operations.

Schedule: 
▪ Five days a week; schedule will vary including weekends and holidays.

Specific Tasks: 

  • Assisting in order development through par systems and inventory management to ensure product availability and low Food Costs.
  • Assisting in the management of all Back of the House employees. Fill in for hourly employees when necessary to minimize Labor Costs and work on the line when needed. 
  • Assisting in the prep and execution of private event menus and execution.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with all management and upper management to address any issues or concerns as they arise. Participating in Manager Meetings to address these issues. 
  • Overseeing quality control of all food production and execution.
  • Daily Follow-through of BOH Systems, and recipe standards developed by the Executive Chef.
  • Addressing all kitchen related problems and incidences in a timely and effective manner.
  • Monitors guest and internal feedback and take corrective action as required ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction
  • Assisting in monthly inventory and closing end of month procedures with the accounting department and executive chef
  • Maintain organized and clean office spaces, kitchen and equipment
  • Attend weekly management meetings, and translate all relevant info to production team
  • Participate in progressive discipline for staff, as needed.  Always documenting and informing PS as needed
  • Ensuring all health department standards are upheld by enforcing high sanitation standards.

 

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Sous Chef
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Possess strength in training and team building programs
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Manager's ServSafe Certification
  • Allergens Certification
