Elle in Mt. Pleasant, Washington, DC is seeking a daytime cafe manager for a fast paced, volume oriented Restaurant & Bakery.

Elle is an all day Cafe, Restaurant, and Bakery. We take pride in making as much as we can in house while providing the most welcoming and enjoyable experience for our guests. Daytime offers fun coffee, breakfast, and lunch fare. Our dinner service focuses on creative and unique dishes. While professionalism is key, we also strive to provide a fun and supportive work environment for every member of our staff. Additionally, we are committed to providing a forum for people to hone their craft, explore technique, as well as teach those around them.

Position Summary: As a daytime front-of-house manager you will ensure that all daily activities run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities for this role include ensuring that guests are receiving high-quality service and products, overseeing employee performance and training, and maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. This position requires excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts calmly.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist GM, AGM, and Executive Chef in customer relations
  • Coordinate and optimize front and back-of-house operations
  • Work with GM and AGM to control operational costs and promoting efficiency
  • Carry out weekly financial reporting, i.e. daily checkout reports
  • Order, maintain, and stock items properly (milk, paper goods, cleaning products, etc.); Maintain clean and orderly work spaces
  • Monitor performance of all daytime FOH employees
  • Monitor appearance of restaurant and staff
  • Enforce safety measures, including COVID policies and protocols
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety regulations

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with BOH to inform employees about menu changes, allergies, 86’s, etc.
  • Maintain proper and clear signage in pastry case
  • Update POS with buttons for new items as well as item inventory counts
  • Execute opening and closing procedures

GUEST EXPERIENCE

  • Greet and advise guests; Direct and promote positive guest experiences
  • Ensure consistency amongst staff to satisfy guest expectations
  • Handle guest issues and complaints; communicate guest feedback to GM, AGM, and Executive Chef

TRAINING & STAFF INTERACTION

  • Assist GM and AGM with recruiting employees
  • Coordinate with Lead Barista to ensure that all staff are properly and continually trained
  • Train and supervise employees
  • Create and maintain training manuals and schedules for employees
  • Monitor staff, assign and delegate tasks- optimize workflow and productivity
  • Maintain checklists for service and ensure completion
  • Conduct regular staff check-ins and quarterly reviews with GM
  • Support staff when needed
  • Handle team conflicts when necessary
