Key Responsibilities
Pastry Cooks are responsible for ensuring guests have a positive experience by exhibiting unsurpassed hospitality. Duties and tasks include:
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or standards, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Season and cook food according to recipes and standards.
- Produce high quality, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods that follow up the established menu and level up to location’s standards
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food.
- Collaborate with other cooks and Chefs during emergencies or rush periods.

- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

- Stamina to stand for long periods of time, including walking up and down stairs
- Physical ability to lift trays of food, glasses and other objects that might be a part of daily duties.
