Key Responsibilities

Line Cooks are responsible for ensuring guests have a positive experience by exhibiting unsurpassed hospitality.  Duties and tasks include:

  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or standards, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Season and cook food according to recipes and standards.
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food.
  • Collaborate with other cooks and Chefs during emergencies or rush periods.
  • Butcher and dress animals, fowl, or shellfish, or cut and bone meat prior to cooking.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in a premium fine dining restaurant

  • Organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing demeanor
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Stamina to stand for long periods of time, including walking up and down stairs
  • Physical ability to lift trays of food, glasses and other objects that might be a part of daily duties.

Compensation: Hourly ($16.00 - $20.00)

Malibu Farm is now in New York and we hope you will join our team. From our humble backyard beginnings, to a small pop up cafe at the end of the Malibu Pier, we now have seven locations and are about to embark on our most exciting location on the water in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Surrounded by the energy of the seaport district ,we hope you will come make a splash with us. Our bar focused on all agave based organic cocktails , is the centerpiece of our restaurant, will provide a fun environment to sip on Sangria, froze and local beer and wine.
