Union Square Events is looking for an Assistant Director of Banquets to join their growing team at the Conrad Hotel!

We produce one-of-a-kind catered events and unparalleled dining experiences in a variety of cultural, corporate, entertainment, and private venues throughout New York City and beyond. 

Who you are: The Assistant Director of Banquets leads the Front of House Event Staff in the execution of service and hospitality for all events at the Conrad New York Downtown. Responsible for the training, morale, and professional development of all Banquet Managers, Servers, Housemen, the Assistant Director of Banquets establishes and maintains service standards and hospitality best practices. As the leader of our Event Staff, the Assistant Director must embody USHG’s Family Values and Conrad’s Forbes Four-Star training. The Assistant Director of Banquets should be able to teach and coach USHG’s Culture while ensuring compliance with the Local 6 Collective Bargaining Agreement and local labor laws. This position participates in pre-event planning in collaboration with Conrad’s Catering & Events team is also at key events to support and evaluate service and hospitality on-site.  

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain a high-performance front-of-house event team, ensuring quality and creating client and guest raves
  • Lead and coach the Banquet FOH team with Enlightened Hospitality and strong technical skills. 
  • Oversee the Banquet floor operation logistics and manage client expectations to provide exemplary service to guests
  • Manage a team of Banquet Managers by assigning daily tasks to ensure all areas of the operation are seamlessly executed
  • Support event planning process and internal communications through collaboration with Catering & Events team daily following USHG's Enlightened Hospitality and Hilton Luxury Standards
  • Create service-related documents and tools for Event Staff (sequence of service, order sheets, assignment grids) and ensure effectiveness
  • Ensure precise knowledge and adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures

What we need from you:

  • 3+ Years F&B Management preferably Banquets
  • Strong understanding of Service and Operations as it pertains to Catering
  • Proficiency in all roles needed to manage an event including but not limited to: Bussing, Passing Food, Table Service, Expediting, Bartending, and Co-Captaining
  • Proficient in POS Systems (Agilisys)
  • Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Delphi, Salesforce,
  • Social Tables, ADP Timesaver, Evention, CaterXpert preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 401(k) Plan: USHG offers a voluntary retirement investment plan that allows you to defer a portion of your income and use pre-tax dollars to save for your retirement. All employees who are 21 years of age or older may elect to participate after 12 months of continuous employment.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts: All employees who have completed 12 months of continuous, full-time employment may elect to set up Flexible Spending Accounts in January of each year. Flexible Spending Accounts allow employees to defer pre-tax income to pay for certain eligible expenses including health care costs not covered by health insurance, transportation to work, and qualified child care expenses. Flexible Spending allows you to increase the income you take home by reducing the amount of taxes you pay for qualified expenses.
  • Direct Deposit: We offer direct deposit of paychecks to your financial institution at no cost to you. You may sign up for direct deposit at any time.
  • Corporate Discount Programs: As a USHG employee, you can get a discounted rate at area gyms and massage services. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to stay healthy and strong!
