Job Details

Oxalis, a one Michelin Star restaurant in Crown Heights, is looking for a Chef de Partie to join the team!

We’re looking for someone with experience in a pastry position, with a desire to work in a prideful work environment with exceptionally high standards. A successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively, and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

If you do not have experience in pastry but have a passion for learning, are enthusiastic about learning and growing with us, possess the ability to take directions and to work in an organized manner in a fast paced environment, you are encouraged to apply.

The Pastry Chef de Partie will be responsible for:

  • Prepping individual components for various dessert and pastries
  • Expedite pastry station during service
  • Plating desserts for set and a la carte menus during service
  • Assisting the Sous Chef and Chef de Parties responsible for dessert and pastry
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timeline and organized manner in accordance with our high standards of excellence
  • Following sanitation and safety guidelines while handling and preparing food and operating equipment, ensuring OSHA safety standards are followed

Requirements:

  • Communicating effectively in a high-paced team environment that maintains exceptional standards
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of organization principles
  • Understand how to set up a station for service
  • Understanding dietary restrictions as related to expediting
  • Having creative integrity for our pastry program and an ability for quality control
  • Ability to follow instructions and remain calm under pressure.
  • Understanding of basic pastry skills, general knife skills, and classic cooking techniques.
